Robert S. Lobel, EA combines decades of tax experience with personal, one-on-one attention—helping Long Island clients file accurately, plan more deliberately, strengthen their businesses, and face the IRS with an experienced representative beside them.

The professional behind the return

A tax professional who knows the history behind the numbers

Bob graduated cum laude from Lynn University in 1993 and began his career immediately after, learning under Donald A. Lobel, CPA. Their partnership lasted twenty years, and both of them were involved in every client's situation — which is where the habit of knowing a client's history, not just their current-year figures, comes from.

In 2014 Bob earned the Enrolled Agent designation from the Internal Revenue Service. Today he is the owner and sole proprietor of Lobel Accounting, and the person you actually speak with when you call: no intake team, no rotating preparer, no handoff after the return is signed.

The firm has served Babylon since 1987, and measures itself against a standard of service that dates to 1953.

The credential

Why an Enrolled Agent matters

"Enrolled Agent" is not a familiar title to most people. It is worth two minutes, because it describes exactly what Bob is permitted to do for you.

Learn About Bob's Credentials

An Enrolled Agent is not an employee of the IRS, and representation does not guarantee any particular outcome.

An Enrolled Agent is licensed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, not by a single state. The credential is earned by passing comprehensive IRS examinations covering individual and business taxation, or through qualifying IRS experience.

IRS notices and representation

When an IRS letter changes the day

An IRS notice can turn an ordinary afternoon into a list of questions. Bob helps clients understand what the notice means, what the agency is requesting, and what should happen next.

What happens next

Share the notice securely

You send the letter through a secure upload link or bring it to the office. Bob reads the notice itself — not a summary of it — because the notice number and the response deadline dictate everything that follows.

Please do not send a notice through a general contact form or ordinary email. Call the office and Bob will provide a secure way to transmit it.

For owner-led businesses

A small-business relationship that extends beyond filing

A business return in April is the last chapter of a story written across twelve months. Bob works with Long Island owners through the whole year, so the filing is a summary of decisions already made deliberately.

  • Records that stay reliable
  • Filings that arrive on time
  • Payroll and sales-tax obligations
  • Entity decisions and their consequences
  • Financial visibility month to month
  • Planning before a major change
  • Continuity between the business and the owner's personal return

The client experience

Four steps, start to finish

A call or an appointment request. You describe the return, the business question, or the letter that arrived.

Requests are answered personally, typically within one business day. Office hours are by appointment — call (631) 587-4949 to confirm availability.

Request an appointment

Tell Bob what the situation is and he will reach out to arrange a time.

Please do not attach tax notices, returns, or documents containing Social Security numbers to this request. Bob will send you a secure upload link, or you can drop documents at the office.

When the tax situation is personal, the guidance should be too.

Speak directly with Robert S. Lobel, EA about the return, business decision, or IRS matter in front of you.
